As a 3D mixed media artist, Katherine Batchelor’s work is predominately with objects, found and created. Objects are loaded with histories, they contain traces of residual emotions and symbolism.
Born in Helensville in 1965, Katherine grew up in post-war New Zealand and has lived with objects that were handmade, and the craft involved in this was valued. She graduated from Hungry Creek Art School in 2006 with a Diploma in Arts and Crafts.
The traumatic events from Katherine’s childhood influence the essence of each work, loss, innocence, and vulnerability, which she consider to be a therapeutic process.
Katherine will have works in one of the eight houses on the Tour.
