Michael Hawkins is an Auckland Grammar Old Boy, attending from 1995 to 1999.
New Zealand-born but based in Melbourne, Michael’s limited-edition art works are drawing based, utilising silkscreen printing processes. Whilst these works concern themselves with individual concepts, they are most often busy, employing strategies of image saturation as a means of questioning the surfeit of information with which we are bombarded on a daily basis through media.
Michael’s work is represented in private collections in New Zealand, Australia, the United States and Europe, and his piece Student Debt (unabridged) was a judges merit award recipient in the Parkin Drawing Prize in 2020.
Michael will have works in one of the eight houses on the Tour.
