Richard Wells specializes in bronze sculptures. Growing up in the South Island inspired his interest in the land and his figurative sculptures echo the forms the land takes.
Using traditional methods and medium these sculptures tell human stories in a contemporary context. The textural quality of his bronzes give us a sense of the artists touch and regard for his subjects.
Richard’s sought-after collectable works are held in collections both here in New Zealand and overseas, including the permanent collection at the Museum of New Zealand – Te Papa Tongarewa – on Wellington’s waterfront.
Richard has been represented by galleries throughout the country including Parnell Gallery.
Richard will have works in one of the eight houses on the Tour.
