History of the Art House Tour

The Auckland Grammar School Foundation Trust launched the annual Art Expo in 2002. Held in the School’s Great Hall over a weekend, the event featured over 160 artists showcasing their artwork with over 2,000 attendees through its doors.

In 2016, the Art Expo became the biennial Art House Tour to help establish a point of difference to the other art shows hosted by other Auckland schools.

2024 marks the fifth biennial Art House Tour, a one-day ticketed event on Saturday 23 November from 10am-4pm, comprising a tour of homes within the Grammar community. The Tour also includes The Gallery situated on the School grounds which will be open from 9pm-4pm on Friday 22 November and 9am-4pm on the Saturday. Across all eight homes and The Gallery, artworks from over 80 local and international artists will be featured.

While the homes are for viewing only, the displayed art within them is for sale with all proceeds benefitting the Academic Endowment Fund, allowing Auckland Grammar School to recruit, retain and reward the very best teachers. The art is displayed in a salon setting so buyers can better envision how the pieces can enhance the ambiance and enrich the décor of their own house.

As part of the Art House Tour you will see numerous works by current Art students who willingly share their passion, talent and potential with us all. The Student Art Exhibition will be hosted in the Old Boys’ Pavilion on Wednesday 20 November.
