Gaen Pollard
Waikato based artist Gaen is both a geometric abstractionist and landscape artist, who aims to capture nature’s splendour through his painted works. Working in acrylic on board and canvas, Gaen uses landscape photography as a start point. He sources palettes from specific regions of his photographs before systematically reducing the scene to its minimalist quintessence, drawing on the cubist tradition of deconstructing and reassembling form to reveal its essential structure.
