Richard Wells is a figurative bronze sculptor. Originally from Central Otago, but now based in Auckland, Richard casts all his work himself, using traditional techniques and the ancient medium of bronze to tell human stories in a contemporary context.
He is widely represented in galleries throughout New Zealand and in the permanent collection of the national museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa.
In addition to creating highly collectable pieces, Richard also takes commissions for one-off sculptures and is the owner of the oldest bronze art casting foundry in New Zealand, ‘Artworks’.
