Guillemot Egg, (Uria Aalge), circa 1900

$1,200.00

Photographic digital print (edition of 5) of a Guillemot egg that dates back to the late 1800s and was sourced from the artist’s egg collection, created by her great great grandfather in England 120 years ago. This family heirloom has been the source of artistic inspiration for both Ginny and her mother, who painted them over her lifetime. The artist sees the eggs as metaphors for fragility, strength and individuality. Shot on a backdrop of cornflower blue linen in natural light, the artist references the oceans the egg crossed to arrive in New Zealand in the early 1900s.
